Jennifer Stolpmann, Owner/Yoga Instructor

My first exposures to yoga, over 25 years ago, were Lilias Folan on PBS and the classic book, "Yoga for Health" by Richard Hittleman.  The discovery of the seamless connection of body, breath and movement resonated to the core of my being and has become an integral part of my life.  I am deeply gratified to be able to provide this space for my community to experience the joys of yoga.

As a path to my own healing, I studied to teach yoga under Glenn Mifsud at Still Point Yoga in Picton, Ontario, and have been actively teaching yoga since January 2003.  The Still Point approach to yoga encourages active mediation through classical yoga poses and appropriate yoga flows.  Building on this foundation, each yoga session is tailored to the needs of the class guiding the pace and intensity accordingly.  By being fully present, each class becomes a unique expression of that particular juncture in time.

Currently, I am studying Integrative Yoga Therapy through their home study program.  It was a special honour to have studied with world-renowned yoga instructor and author, Donna Farhi, in June 2008.  In accordance with the Zen principle of Beginner’s Mind, I am always seeking ways to deepen my knowledge and experience that open to more paths of inquiry and life-long learning.

Experiencing the body and breath with awareness is an important part of my philosophy. All too often we see our physical forms as "the enemy" – something to be conquered and overcome. I advocate a more compassionate approach – being aware of our body, mind and spirit at any given time, and working with what is presented to us to develop a more accepting, loving attitude toward ourselves, our bodies and each other.

It is a joy to behold clients befriend their bodies –- working with their bodies as allies to achieve health, well-being and deeper self-awareness. The wisdom of the body is astounding when we take the time to observe the physical manifestations of our mental, emotional and spiritual states.  It is truly amazing how we can bring about balance and harmony in our lives through simple awareness and positive lifestyle practices.
